SuperJosh News: Issue No. 11
Hello and a sunny Wednesday welcome to the latest issue of the SuperJosh News! We have so much going on at the moment, and are busy coming up with some fantastic and fun plans with our new partners at The Rock in Bury and Sainsbury’s in Sedgley Park. We’ll definitely keep you posted as more things get finalised, so watch this space. But the for time being, read on 🙂
Big Thumbs Up Thank You
This week we would like to say thank you to Richard Hearne from Power1 who completed a 62 mile bike ride on 12 July from Manchester to Blackpool.
At last count he had raised £305 online, and the donations will be split equally between us and Christies Cancer Care. Thank you so much, hope you’re not feeling too sore!
If you would like to make a donation to Richard, you can do so here.
We would also like to say a MASSIVE meaty thank you to our friends over at Best In Bury Foods for their fundraising effort throughout June.
In Issue No. 5 we told you about the fantastic SuperJune offer the team were holding – a massive SuperJosh meat pack for just £39.99, with a donation being made to the charity.
On Saturday Dawn went down to their Canon Street unit and was totally gobsmacked when Steve presented her with £1,000! Any of you who know Dawn well know that she is often stunned in to silence, so well done everyone and a big thumbs up and thank you for thinking of us!
Here to help
You may recall that in Issue No. 8 we posted photos of Stewart Sheridan’s new wheelchair adapted car which now enables Stewart to travel with his family rather than relying on ambulances for transport. Well, here is the full story of how a bit of a boogie made a huge difference.
Stewart Sheridan, who is 10 and from Limefield, Bury, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour earlier this year. His family are obviously keen to spend quality time with Stewart and the arranging of transport when they want to go anywhere impacts on the plans they are able to make. The new van, which will enable the family to all travel together, will make a massive difference to the whole Sheridan family.
Bury-based Active Dance, which has more than 700 members, held a 24hr dance-a-thon back in February to help raise money for the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity to enable them to help Stewart and his family.
Dawn Fidler, Mum and Founder of the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity, said “The reason Josh and I set up the charity is precisely to be able to help children and families like Stewart and the Sheridans. I am so pleased that the team from Active Dance brought their amazing fundraising talents to help us help Stewart. ”
“Thank you to everyone who danced, who sponsored, who donated, who organised or who ‘taxied’ dancers – we really appreciate your support!”
Nicola Cleaver from Active Dance said “We are delighted we could help a local charity to help a local boy! Our pupils and teachers worked extremely hard to make the dance-a-thon the huge success it was and we are hoping to work with the #SuperJosh charity again in the near future. Supporting local charities is an integral part of Active Dance “
Michael Sheridan, Stewart’s Dad , said “In the few days we have had it, the van has already made a massive difference to Stewart. Thank you to SuperJosh and his charity and thank you ActiveDance.“
Happy Birthday To The Rock
It’s hard to believe but The Rock is 5 years old!!! To celebrate they are going to be giving five lucky shoppers a £500 shopping spree at their Birthday Bash on Saturday (18/07/15).
We are so excited to be a part of The Rock’s 6th year as their chosen charity for 2015/2016. If you see any of our tumbraisers whilst you’re out and about, don’t forget to come on over and say “hi”.
Don’t forget that this Friday sees a lot of ladies having lunch (and some bubbles) and perhaps a bit of a boogie at The Village. We hope to see lots of you there, we know it’s going to be a great event and we have had lots of items donated for our gorgeous table hampers.
We also still have tickets for our James Bond themed casino night so grab them before they go 🙂
Well, that’s it for this week. Don’t forget to let us know if you are up to anything that you want us to shout about, we’d be happy to feature you in next week’s news. Until then, keep smiling 🙂
