Mikes goes the extra mile for SuperJosh
Last week we told you about Mike Callaghan from St Helens who was taking part in the Windermere Triathlon to raise funds for our charity. Well, the event took place on Sunday, 3rd July and Mike chose to support SuperJosh as he is good friends with one of our trustees.
The challenge itself meant undertaking a 1.5km open water swim, a 43km bike ride followed by a 10k run. All of which was impressive enough, but this was his FIRST ever triathlon!
We caught up with Mike after the event to check he was OK, and we’re delighted to say he was in high spirits. He said, “”The whole event was well organised, there was a great comradery between all taking part, and the setting was superb.”
Not that Mike thought about giving up at any point, but he did say that “the amount of good luck messages and donations made to the SuperJosh Charity spurred me on even more”.
On the day Mike was supported by his wife Clare (pictured below), and two children Ollie and Grace. We couldn’t be with him on the day to cheer him on, but we were all thinking of him and are so grateful for all his hard work and dedication.
To date Mike has raised £991.25 (including Gift Aid) in online donations. It would be fantastic if we can help get him over the £1,000 mark. If you would like to make a donation direct to his Virgin Money Giving page, you can do so here.
