Hydro-pool upgrade & Sensory Lighting System for Elms Bank Special School
Josh’s school, Elms Bank, is very close to our hearts here at Team SuperJosh.
The staff are amazing and the support they provided while Josh attended high school there made a great difference to his quality of life.
One of the areas we know the school and the local council have struggled with over the past decade is affording the much-needed upgrade of their hydrotherapy pool facilities.
The pool is such a vital resource, for Josh alone it was needed at least three times a week to relieve the symptoms of his scoliosis.
Due to the school being unable to afford the upgrade work to the pool Josh was unable to use it for much of the time he was there, and instead so many people worked hard to help private fundraising for bath adaptations at home to ensure Josh got what he needed for his health and rehabilitation.
For so many others we know this is difficult, if not impossible to achieve.
We are now absolutely delighted to be a part of the team helping to upgrade the hydrotherapy pool and bring in the much-needed changes that will make this space truly special and well used by so many children and young people once again.
Bury Council are funding the upgrade which is costing over a million pounds.
As part of this work we are providing a cutting-edge sensory lighting system. The system will be motion sensored and if that’s not enough, it will also play music! Allowing everyone that has sessions there to either relax or energise as per their treatment plan.
The work on this lighting system couldn’t go ahead without the support of our amazing volunteers, sponsors and donations. This year the SuperJosh Blackpool to Bury walkers and Parklife teams will be aiming to smash the target needed for this sensory lighting system to go ahead, plus help many more of our special families.
Please support them in any way you can and make this project a reality.
We can’t wait for the hydrotherapy pool work to get underway and will bring you regular photos and updates as to its progress, along with updates on the fundraising needed for the sensory lighting system, as our walkers pound the pavements on their epic walk on the 27th April.
To help this amazing project please donate.
