Blackpool to Bury a Walkers Story
I’m the owner of independent travel business, Travel Counsellors and last year I took part in the Blackpool to Bury epic walk – 36 miles to raise money for a very worthy cause – The SuperJosh Charity.
I’ve always enjoyed walking and having dogs means I need to get out regularly to walk them – but 36 miles in one day is quite a different matter! Last year my time was 11 hours 50 minutes and this year I’m aiming to smash that target.
In preparation for the BIG walk I’ve been on lots of training walks, getting up to 23 miles so far in my training. I know from previous experience that the last few miles are the hardest but in order to push through the mental barrier I think about what the money we raise will go towards and how it will really help people, going through awful trauma in their lives and that helps me power on.
My involvement with the charity has brought it home to me the really tough times many people are going through, it’s also made me want to expand the services that I offer to become more specialised in supporting those with disabilities or life limiting illnesses to get access to wonderful holidays and respite breaks away, a time for them to make special memories.
I’m really proud of my work with the SuperJosh Charity and really hope people will support myself and my fellow walkers – who all have their own ‘reason why’ for doing the walk.
Please support me and give as much as you can via my donation page here.
