SuperJosh News: Issue No. 7
Hi and welcome to the latest edition of the SuperJosh News – your one stop shop for all things … well, SuperJosh related. So, what have we been up to since Issue No. 6? Well as usual, quite a lot!
Latest News and Events
Last weekend we went to Bury Carnival and had a fab time! It was great to see so many familiar faces, and of course show off our new Josh Mobile!
Thanks to everyone who came along and cheered – it really was a fun event.
Also thanks to all the Thumbraisers who took time out of their weekend to go spread the word and grab more donations for the charity. Pictured below are brother and sister, Kairo and Lola who were also busy supporting the Buy Local campaign.
Don’t forget to support your favourite local stores this month – take a selfie and upload it using the #buylocalselfie tag.
The eagle eyed amongst you might have noticed that we have a new sign on the Josh Mobile. We just want to say a huge SuperJosh thank you to our new car sponsors Solita. They are opening a new restaurant in Prestwich in August (don’t worry, we will give you more information closer to the time). Anyone who has come across them already will know for a fact that they serve the best burgers in Manchester. We are so excited for the new launch!
You’d think after a busy day at the carnival the SuperJosh team would take it a little easy but oh no … that’s not our style. On Thursday we went to the North West’s Premier Business Fair which was held in association with TheBestofBury, Bury Business Lodge and Bury Council down at Castle Armoury in the centre of Bury.
It was a fantastic event with lots of brilliant speakers, and some fantastic exhibitors on show. Our cakes certainly went down a treat – will have to bake more for the next one!
A massive well done to the whole of the Made in Bury team for all the hardwork they have put in making this such a wonderful event. You’ve outdone yourselves and we’re already looking forward to the Made in Bury Awards in November!
SuperJosh Thank You’s
While we were at the #BuryBizFair our friends at Financial Options popped over and presented us with a cheque for £1,000!!! Thank you so much for your generous donation – you’re all superstars!
Good luck to…
We want to wish Martin Harrison from Pennine Bookkeeping all the best for tomorrow night when he is taking part in the White Collar Boxing Championship at Lancashire Cricket Club.
You can sponsor him by…
Look out for …
Every year Sainbury’s customers and colleagues work together to support a local cause at the heart of their community and we have just heard that we have made it to the shortlist for the Sedgely Park store.
We are up against some very stiff competition, but it would be brilliant if we could win the public vote and gain the support of this store!
You can vote for us here – thank you so much for your support and don’t forget to share!
And as if that wasn’t enough we have also been shortlisted for The Rock’s Charity of Choice. If you would like to vote for us as their chosen charity then you can do so here.
Good luck to everyone seeking nominations/votes for these two fantastic opportunities.
Here to help…
We are currently helping a family whose 2 year old child has a brain tumour. We will be helping them with a special walker (pictured below – please note, child pictured is not the child we are working with) that will aid mobility. We will be able to provide more support news as we continue to work with this wonderful family.
We’ve also helped 10 year old Stewart Sheridan from Bury with a £2,000 down payment for his new wheelchair adapted car. This means that he will now be able to travel with his family, rather than relying on ambulances for transport. The car arrives on Monday and we are so excited for him! We will definitely share a photo with you all next week! Thanks again to everyone who has made donations – this is where your money goes and it really does make the biggest of differences to people’s lives!
Don’t forget that it’s Josh’s Midsummer Party tomorrow down at the Queen Anne pub in Unsworth. No matter the weather (and we hear it may not be the best of days) we will have a smile on our faces and oodles of fun planned. If you have a spare hour or so please pop down and say howdy and enjoy the fun with us.

This weekend we will also be taking part in the Prestwich Carnival. On Sunday we will be leading out the carnival, and will have the Red Angels, the Salford Red cheerleaders with us. We know it’s going to be a great event, but we will be missing and thinking of our superhero who was with us last year.
On 26th April The Village are hosting a Sportsman’s Dinner with legendary Ron Atkinson as the guest speaker. It looks set to be another fantastic night and £5 from every ticket sold will come straight to the charity. This is a perfect night out for all those footy mad Dad’s (and would make a great belated Father’s Day present if you’ve forgotten that it’s THIS SUNDAY!).
We all know that Josh loved the ladies, so it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have an event just for you girly girls out there. So, here it is: on 17th July The Village will be hosting a Ladies Lunch to support the charity. There will be bubbles, dinner, dancing and a special appearance from the gorgeous and super talented Fellone Duo! So, get your glad rags on and come and join us from 12 noon!
Happy Father’s Day
We want to wish every Dad and Dad-to-be out there a fantastic Father’s Day for this Sunday. As we do though we spare an extra special thought for Colin, who will be experiencing his first Father’s Day without Josh. Love and best wishes to every Dad who will be thinking of their own superhero angels.
Right, we’d better sign off now as we still have lots to do for the Queen Anne event tomorrow. Who needs sleep anyway?! Look forward to seeing lots of you there, but in the meantime have a great weekend and catch up with you all again next Friday.
