SuperJosh News: Issue No.17
Hello and welcome to the first issue of September. Hope the month is treating you well so far (OK, we know it’s only the second day but still, anything could have happened!).
Thank you to…
We would like to say a huge thank you to Sainsbury’s who held their first charity day last month, decorating the store and dressing in a superhero theme. They held a raffle with 3 prizes, including a lunch for two at Topkapi Palace restaurant, kindly donated by their manager. It was a great success raising over £500 and spreading the word about the charity.
We have mentioned it in the last couple of issues but they are holding a big bike ride which is taking place on the weekend of the 12th September with the cyclists visiting the Sedgley store on Sunday the 13th. They still have some places available if anyone would like to get involved – just get in touch with us and we will help sort it out for you.
On the day they plan to hold a tombola and have an exercise bike in store for colleagues to participate without the commitment of 60 odd miles. If you get a chance to pop down and show some support that would be great – and thanks to Lisa and the team for arranging so much on our behalf!
SuperJosh … popular with the ladies
You no doubt remember that earlier this year the SuperJosh cocktail was launched at The Clarence (and Automatic Cafe) in Bury. Well they are still on sale and proving very popular with the locals.
Dawn Fidler said “The cocktail is based on Josh’s favourite cake, a Bakewell tart, and gin which is my favourite tipple. It’s actually delicious. This is a really good way of raising awareness of our charity.”
Ben Earnshaw, assistant general manager at The Clarence, said: “Ourselves and Dawn got together to create the cocktail which is meant to taste like a bakewell tart. It contains Amaretto and sloe gin, apple and pineapple juice and bakewell tart flavouring. It tastes very fruity and is popular with the ladies. The ‘Super Josh’ cocktail is proving very popular and we’ve sold quite a lot already. It’s on all our menus.”
For every cocktail sold 50p is donated to the charity – what better way to celebrate and contribute at the same time?
The Go Gold Project
We all know only too well that kids get cancer too – and the Go Gold Project is aiming to help raise awareness, and make Facebook a prettier place in the process.
You can go to the website and request a special badge (just like Josh’s below).
Please help us to help them spread the word and tell as many families as possible so they can get involved.
Up coming events
There’s less than a week to go until the SuperJosh charity basketball game with the Lancashire Spinners and USA Select. From experience we know that this going to be an amazing event and look forward to seeing many of you there on the night.
You can still get tickets here at just £5.95!
The Heywood charities fete is the 6th September, from 10am at Queens Park. There will be lots of stalls and rides to keep everyone entertained. There will also be a carnival and parade which is has a fairy tales and nursery rhymes theme. This is undoubtedly going to be a fun day out for all the family (no matter the weather).
It’s not long now till Team Arnott take on the Tough Mudder challenge. Check out this latest photo from Gill showing off her muscles. We’re betting that’s her drinking arm there 😉
That’s all folks…
Well, that’s it for another week. We hope you enjoy the rest of the week. Remember to keep us posted on what you’re all up to so we can sout about it from the rooftops!
