SuperJosh News: Issue No. 10

11 year old Tyler Yates from Leigh has been living with a brain tumour since he was diagnosed on his first Birthday. As a result he has grown up needing to have ongoing courses of radiotherapy and chemotherapy to try and help keep his tumours at bay.Josh and Tyler met during treatment when they were both in Pendlebury Hospital and they grew up to be good buddies.

Following a bad water leak Tylers bathroom has sufferered severe damp which is a big infection risk. Additionally the space needs adapting so that it suits Tylers ongoing needs and this is where we come in to help.

This week Team SuperJosh are installing a brand new accessible (damp free) bathroom. This wouldn’t be possible without all of your amazing support and donations, so thank you everyone!

We will keep you posted with photos as we make progress. We can’t wait for the finished result!

Thanks to you, we did it!

We just want to say a massive thank you to every single one of you who took the time to vote for us, and share our story over the last couple of weeks. Thanks to your support and online campaigning we won both competitions with The Rock Bury and Sainsbury’s Segdley Park to become their Charity of the Year.

We are so proud and cannot wait to work with these to fantastic organisations. We are looking forward to sharing some updates with over the coming weeks of what we have planned. Thank you again, it means so much to all of Team SuperJosh, but especially Dawn who knows how thrilled Josh would have been by these two amazing honours.

Happy Birthday Bury Times

Did you know that the Bury Times is 160 years old this week?! That calls for some serious cake if you ask us.

The Bury Times have been by our side since the very beginning and we are delighted to have such a good relationship with them. Here is an article they featured on Josh back in 2004 - and there have been many more since!

Upcoming Events

It’s going to be a busy few weeks for us (OK, so what’s new there then?!).

Next week, Friday 17th July is our Ladies Lunch at The Village where you will be treated to a fantastic meal and fantastic entertainment. There are a few tickets left so it’s not too late to get yourselves booked on. We know we’re going to have a fantastic day and can’t wait to see you there.

We may have a few weeks to go but it’s never too early to start talking about what an amazing month August is going to be. As you know, Josh would have been turning 15 in August, and there are a number of events celebrating what would have been his Birthday.

So, grab your diaries NOW and make a note:

Friday 14th August we are having a James Bond themed night, complete with casino tables and Bond girls at The Village. It’s strictly over 18s only.

Then on Sunday 16th August there will be a family disco and BBQ with entertainment for all (also at The Village).

Tickets will be on sale at the end of the week so make sure you grab yours early to avoid disappointment.

When talking about August and the upcoming events Dawn said “It will be hard, but a celebration of my amazing boys life and his legacy”. We are all looking forward to getting our party faces and boogie shoes on and hope you will join us to celebrate our amazing man!
