SuperJosh News: Issue 25
As always it has been a busy week for the SJ Team and we have lots of things to tell you about.
Last week we were delighted to be part of the Kidz Up North event. We had a really great day and it was lovely to see our friends at Bury FC Community Trust.
And the winner is…
On Thursday 19th November the Made In Bury Business Awards took place at the amazing Longfield Suite. As you know we made the shortlist for the Community Impact Award and we are delighted to say that we came third!
Of course, I can’t lie, we would have been more delighted to come first, but the fact of the matter is the competition was ridiculously fierce and we are honoured to have been considered alongside the winners, The Eagle and Child and the amazing Street Pastors.
A huge thank you to everyone involved, and well done to the MIBBA team who have managed to organise yet another fantastic event. Is it wrong to say we are already looking forward to MIBBA16?
This Thursday is another special day for us as we are getting ready to donate a hospital entertainment package to the children’s day care ward at Fairfield General hospital. We know that this package will be of huge value and benefit to the children on the ward so we are very excited about handing it all over.
However, it wouldn’t have been possible without the support from our friends over at The Rock, Bury. Thank you to everyone who has donated, from the team and staff, to members of the public who have been involved with the collections. We really do appreciate every single penny and it’s amazing to be able to bring smiles and help to so many people all in Josh’s legacy!
We promise to take lots of photos of the day and will share them with you next week!
Also, thank you to all our pals over at The Warehouse Project who have so far raised an astonishing £5,945 this season. #WHP15 you are amazing!!!! Thank you so much.
Update from Everest…
For those of you that are following the #Everest4Josh journey here is the latest update from Base Camp:
James reached & smashed base camp, reaching 18,192 feet or 5545 metres, it was pretty cold and very windy and he felt far from great at this altitude.
Francis did amazing getting as far as he did but suffered altitude sickness so he didn’t get as high but he still achieved more than most of us would have done!!
We think you guys are amazing!!! For those of you that want to offer support to these heroes you can do so here.
On Friday (27th November) Fairfield High School are hosting a Winter Market with proceeds being split between our charity and Save the Children’s Child refugee fund.
Entrance to the market is just 50p and will be open 5pm to 8pm. There are lots of different stalls available, including food and drink. This is set to be a lovely family friendly evening and thank you to all those involved for including us!
After the success of the last one we are delighted to remind you that our next Car Boot Sale will be taking place THIS Sunday (29th November) on the Tesco’s car park at Woodfields retail park. Don’t forget you buy tickets via our shop – £12 for cars or £15 for vans.
Set up starts at 7.30am and we will be open for business from 8am. We know it’s early, but it is SO worth it and 100% of pitch sales come directly to the charity. Why not take the time to find some amazing pre-Christmas bargains?
It’s 29 sleeps…
If you have tiny humans in your life then you will no doubt be only too well aware that it is only 29 sleeps until Christmas. 29. That’s it.
So, if you haven’t already got your Christmas cards bought, written and sent then why not pop over to our online shop now and buy some of our special SuperJosh inspired cards? All designs are based on artwork Josh did and we think they look amazing.
Actually, even if you have bought and written your cards you should still buy some and send MORE cards!!!
And while we’re on the subject of Christmas (did we mention it’s only 29 sleeps?!) why don’t you come on down on Saturday 5th December and just us for The Rock Express land train launch event with Key 103?!
Register at key103.co.uk from today until 2nd December for your chance to take the first ride on The Rock Express and receive a Christmas treat under your seat! With prizes ranging from Frankie & Benny’s vouchers to a Toni & Guy hair treatment, earrings from Peter Jackson to a bracelet from B-Jewels, there’s loads of treats to be won.
Enjoy a free sleigh ride from a Christmas Elf and meet the giant Christmas baubles. Children can join the festive fairies in the free Winter Workshop to decorate their own wooden snowflake, snowman or fairy wings. A cuddly Christmas character will be riding the land train all day, plus don’t miss Bury Music Centre playing festive tunes from 10am – 12pm and performances from Active Dance from 12:30pm.
The Rock Express is a FREE transport service between St John’s Square (near Costa) and Peel Monument (by the church). It will run from 5th December until 2nd January between 10am and 4pm each day.
OK, we admit it, we are EXCITED!!!!!
That’s all folks…
Well, that is it for another week. Hope you enjoyed finding out what we have been up to and what we have planned. Look forward to seeing you out and about soon!
