Happy New Year from Team SuperJosh
2016 was another roller coaster of a year. I will never be able to thank everyone personally who has helped Josh’s Charity over the past year, there are just so many of you, but I want to share with you some of our highlights and achievements.
Over the last 12 months so many kind and generous people have given their time and donations to help raise more awareness and funds for Josh’s Charity. Whether it’s been the Manchester Marathon, Bury 10K, sky-diving, hosting quizzes and competitions or pamper nights everything has been so much fun!
Josh was so, so proud of his charity and loved taking part in his events, normally to be found with his collection bucket flirting those long lashes and smiling at the ladies. All our volunteers, supporters and thumbraisers are doing a great job carrying on his legacy and we couldn’t do it without you!
Through your support we have donated SuperJosh Teenage Entertainment & Play Packages to hospitals, who just don’t have the funds for TV’s, XBox’s, DVDs, Books, Games etc. and rely heavily on donations. I love seeing how amazed the play specialists are when we rock up with everything. To see the smiles on theirs, and the children’s faces is just amazing!
Play is an important part of healing and hospital stays are long and boring, so it’s important for both children and their families to have these resources.
Your donations and support have also made it possible to help families with special equipment, new buggies and wheelchairs, house adaptations, hospital expenses grants, respite holidays and sadly grievance counselling and funeral expenses, to list a few.
This is direct help, exactly when families need it. As a Mum I know how important this is and how it makes a big difference to everyone’s lives. Being able to help other children and families in Josh’s name is a very special gift and legacy to our superhero.
Our awareness is growing rapidly and we have now been able to help over 1,400 families which is incredible. However, we constantly have a waiting list now and simply can’t fundraise quickly enough. We are hoping with everyone’s amazing support to triple the number of families we help in 2017 and to donate at least 20 hospital packages across the country.
As part of Josh’s legacy, we are making the Pride of Bury Awards 2017 even bigger and better. Nominations are already open for this year, so that we can hear about more of the amazing people that make Bury great. We can’t wait to hear all about your local heroes, so please start nominating at www.prideofbury.co.uk
I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year, and looking forward to celebrating Josh’s legacy with you all.
