FuseFit Fitness club challenge to run Everest in 24 hours to support SuperJosh Charity & Bury Hospice!
Members at Ramsbottom based FuseFit are setting themselves a unique challenge! To run the equivalent of Everest in just 24 hours, to raise much needed funds for local charities The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour SuperJosh Charity and Bury Hospice.
The challenge will begin on Saturday 23rd May and will follow strict social distancing rules to ensure the safety of all involved and will take place using the local Hare & Hounds to Peel Tower Route.
The epic challenge is the brainchild of FuseFit owner and personal trainer Ashley Reece who explained why he was so committed to this event:
“At the beginning of 2020 we set out as a group to complete 12 challenges in 12 months for the SuperJosh Charity and Bury Hospice, both doing great work in our local communities. However, with the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic we had to adapt what we had planned.
We wanted to do something on a big scale to really challenge ourselves. Physical activity and pushing your boundaries isn’t just great for your physical health but also your mental health too. This is more important now than ever and I’m very proud of the team at FuseFit for getting behind this amazing event and giving it their all.
It’s given us something positive to focus on, we are hoping to raise at least £2000 and I’d encourage as many people as possible to donate if they can, to give back to these fantastic local charities.”
Supporting the event and also part of the running team are the owners of local companies; Bespoke Landscapes, Peel Pumps and Holcombe Tap.
Samantha Gibbs from The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity added:
“We are delighted Ashley and the team at FuseFit have chosen the SuperJosh Charity to benefit from this amazing challenge. These kinds of fundraising events are so crucial to local charities like ourselves. All money raised will go direct to those that need it most – children and families living with brain tumours and post-surgery disabilities.
We can’t wait to support the FuseFit team as they smash their goals of conquering “Everest” right here in Ramsbottom!”
The challenge will start at 12noon on the 23rd May and it is estimated will finish at 12 noon the following day. Runners will go through the night in order to complete the 51 laps needed. To meet the demands of the challenge one lap will need be run every 28 minutes. To ensure the team complete the challenge within the 24 hours an individual runner will be setting off every 28 minutes whether the next person is back in that time or not.
