Dawn Fidler In The Running For Pride Of Britain Awards
Charity Founder, Dawn Fidler has been nominated in the Fundraiser of the Year category of the Pride of Britain Awards by her team at The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity and has now made it through to the final four from the North West Region.
The Pride of Britain Awards are nominated by the public and are a celebration of the achievements of truly remarkable people. The awards are the biggest show of there kind on British TV.
The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity was set up by 13-year-old Joshua Wilson and his mum Dawn Fidler in 2013 after their own 10-year journey through ill health to help other families, before Josh sadly died a year later.
Dawn and her amazing team of volunteers now continue to passionately help poorly children, and their families, in Josh’s legacy.
Dawn said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for this award. I’m totally overwhelmed and honoured by this recognition.
“The work I do wouldn’t be possible without such a strong and dedicated team behind me. We all share the same vision – to give help children and their families who have brain tumours and post-surgery disabilities.
“This nomination is amazing and will help us raise further awareness of the work of the charity and help us to continue to support more families in need.”
Sacha Lord, Charity Patron and Night Time Economy Adviser for Greater Manchester said: “I fully support and am delighted that Dawn has gained recognition with a nomination. Dawn touches so many families and lives on a daily basis.
“Dawn never asks for praise or even a simple thank you yet, she dedicates her life to helping others through Josh’s legacy.
“I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving and wish her good luck in reaching the final.”
The charity led by Dawn has to date raised over £700,000 and helped more than 1,600 families.
Dawn’s story will be shown on Granada Reports on 2nd October at 6pm, as part of a four-part series on the region’s finalists. The winner will be announced on Friday 5th October.
