SuperJosh News: Issue No. 14

Hi folks, hope you’re all well and not getting too soaked in this rain.  Seriously, what has happened to summer?!  So, it’s been a big week for us and we have lots to tell you about.  Sorry we’re a little later with this week’s issue than usual but we have had a few technical issues. Anyway, it’s about time we shared all our news with you.

Our Hero Turns 15

On Monday, 10th August it was Josh’s 15th Birthday.  Thank you to everyone who text, emailed or messaged via social media with their wishes, stories and photos.  It was great to see Josh being celebrated by so many on this special day.

SuperJosh £15 Appeal

To celebrate two years of our fabulous charity, and Josh’s 15th Birthday we are launching a £15 for Josh appeal.

We are just asking you to take 2 minutes out of your day (if that) and donate £15 via GoFundMe to remember our special guy, and help us to continue to give support to families living with childhood brain tumours and post-operative complications.

A big thank you to…

Last weekend Dawn and some of the team went to ComicCon in Yorkshire.  They had a fantastic day and met up with Josh’s Sentinel Squad UK.

It was great to see everyone again and Dawn was amazed to be presented with a cheque for £2,700.

The stormtroopers even managed to raise an additional £200 thanks to some help from the Darleks. We should have known they’d be the best of pals!

We would also like to say thank you to theBestofBury for arranging their summer BBQ at Walmersley Golf Club last week.  It was great to see everyone and the food was amazing.  Lu was particularly obsessed with the sausages and so far Dawn hasn’t stopped talking about the salmon!

Also, thanks to everyone who bought raffle tickets and raised a further £178 for the charity.  We really appreciate all your support.

Another massive thank you to Dave Giffard, chairman of Forever Bury who presented Dawn with a cheque for £500 last week following the Beer Festival earlier this year.  It was a real surprise and we are already looking forward to next year’s event!

Thanks a bunch

This week we received our very own thank you from Royal Oldham hospital, who we recently provided a teenage entertainment pack to with the support of Simply Health.

We were so touched to receive this beautiful card and message – we hope everyone is enjoying everything.

It’s Party Time

This Friday, as in TODAY (14th August) we will be hosting an adult-only party to celebrate two years of our amazing charity.  There will be lots of fun on offer including live music, hot buffet and a champagne toast. That’s a glass of champagne to make a toast with, not toast made from champagne.  That would be odd.

This is a change to our original James Bond themed night that we had planned but still promises to be lots of fun.  Dress code is casual and if you haven’t already booked your tickets, don’t worry you can pay on the door.  Just £10 but strictly 18+ only.

And then, on Sunday 16th August we are having our traditional SuperJosh Birthday Party.  This family friendly event is ideal for everyone and under 5’s go free (otherwise £5 paid on the door).  There will be a BBQ, family disco, candy cart and entertainment for all.  Oh and don’t forget our superhero fancy dress competition!!!

WHP Competition

On Sunday Sacha will be hosting what he calls his biggest competition ever.  Check out the Tweet below and get yourselves over to @whp_mcr to get involved.

That’s all folks…

So, that’s it for another week other than to say thank you for continuing to be a part of our journey, our story and our boy’s legacy.  We couldn’t do any of this without you, so thanks.

Love, hugs and thumbsup from the SJTeam.
