SuperJosh News: Issue 21

Hello and welcome to another issue of the SJ News.  We had a busy weekend and we have lots planned for the rest of this week, so grab a cuppa and put your feet up for a few minutes while we fill you in on our news.

Super Sized Car Boot

On Sunday we held our first ever car boot sale and I think it’s safe to say that it was a huge success. All the proceeds from the cost of pitches went to the charity and in total we raised £1,195! It was a fantastic day, the sun even shone especially for us, and the feedback we have received has been fantastic.

Thanks so much to the team who helped out on the day, Tesco’s for giving up part of their car park and supporting us and to everyone who turned up.   We will definitely be doing another one as soon as possible so please watch this space for future dates.

Melissa Parry, Community Champion at the Tesco Bury store said:

Josh came into our store regularly and seeing his lovely smile used to make our day, so having the opportunity to help his fantastic charity raise funds for other poorly children was an absolute pleasure. As a store we are proudly committed to helping our local community in as many ways as we can. We are amazed at the attendance and feedback we received from the car boot sale and it was an absolute delight to have it on our carpark. We look forward to helping with future events.

Drive4Josh

On Thursday last week we finally found out who the winner was of GDT’s Drive4Josh.  We can confirm it wasn’t any of the SuperJosh Team.  We can’t do justice to the experience, so you can find out what Graham Evan’s had to say about the experience here.

A huge thank you to everyone who got involved and faced the butterflies to re-take their test.  Most of all a massive thank you to Graham who came up with the idea, organised everything and dedicated his time to the entire event.  Feedback has been amazing and it’s clear Graham is very passionate about teaching people to drive.  Passionate and VERY sarcastic!

The Salford Red Devils

On Saturday we were invited to the AJ Bell Stadium where Josh’s ashes are scattered to watch his Salford Red Devils players train.  We are proud to continue to support the team and sponsor player Josh Griffin next year, and were delighted to be presented with his shirt.

It’s great to have so much support from the players and all the staff – so here’s to another great season together!

Pictured below are the team and sponsors.

Good luck to…

Good luck to Luke Martyn who is running the Bournemouth Marathon this weekend!! We really don’t envy you but thank you so much for thinking of us.  You can show your support and donate here.

Knitting4Josh

Lydia from Learn to Knit Bury is going to donate £5 for every beginner knitter taught up until Christmas to this our charity. That includes knitting courses bought as Christmas presents. So get in touch and lets get you all knitting your Christmas presents this year. 🙂

Here to help

This week we are busy helping families behind the scenes.  We will be sending out hospital expenses grants to families and are currently putting together another hospital entertainment package for Fairfield pediatric day unit.

We are also helping a family with living expenses who are soon to visit the US for Proton Therapy treatment.  We are here to help reduce debts while they are there so it’s one tiny thing less for them to worry about.  We will also be helping to adapt a garden for a family with some special play equipment.

We are also working with Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to look at how we can work more closely with the families of the children on Ward 84 who have brain tumours and are in treatment.

Thursday Night

Not only is tomorrow the first day of October (where is this year going?) but it also sees two fantastic events taking place in Bury.

We are really proud to have been chosen as The Charity Partner for The Rock this year and we are looking forward to their Student Night this Thursday. It’s happening between 4pm and 8pm and there are brilliant prizes & big shop discounts up for grabs. You can find out more here.

Our patron Sacha Lord-Marchionne has also very generously donated two Warehouse Project Season Tickets which can be one on the night from the SuperJosh Charity Tent.  So come on down and find us!

Also on Thursday we are excited to be with our friends within thebestofBury Business Community at The Big Bury Expo held at The Village Hotel from 7pm. It’s free to attend and you can book on here.

That’s all folks…

Well that is it for another week, hope you have a good one whatever you’re up to.
