Manchester Arndale announces 3 local charities to shine this Christmas

Manchester Arndale has announced its three Christmas Charity Stars to support through the centre’s annual gift wrap service, following a call out to local charities in August.

With three times more applications submitted than in 2013, the judging process for a place was tough, with the winners announced this week as Reuben’s Retreat, Radio Lollipop Manchester and The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour charity.

The charities were selected for their work in the Greater Manchester community and their plans for the investment of this year’s donation.

The three charity stars will benefit from Manchester Arndale’s charity gift wrap service, which is open to shoppers from 20 November to 24 December. The shopping centre’s gift-wrap team will tie up customer’s presents beautifully for a donation of between £1 – £2 per present depending on size. Last Christmas the team wrapped an outstanding 7,863 presents, raising nearly £10,700 in total with the additional help for extra donations.

David Allinson, Centre Director at Manchester Arndale said: “Year on year we are proud to support local charities and community groups through our Christmas Charity Stars campaign. Our gift wrap service is always popular with shoppers in the centre and we are pleased that through this service we are able to raise valuable funds for worthy groups. We raised nearly £10,700 last year for three charities in Greater Manchester and can’t wait to beat that figure again this year!”

Charities in Greater Manchester can also apply to perform carol singing concerts in Manchester Arndale during the month of December, subject to availability of space. Interested charities must visit www.manchesterarndale.com and submit an application form to yourcommunity@manchesterarndale.com.

Manchester Arndale will host a VIP launch party with the three charities on 19 November at the Christmas Grotto in Halle Square.
